Join lotteries across the U.S. and Canada from July 13-17 in celebrating Lottery Week! This week, we acknowledge our collective contributions to our missions and beneficiaries and thank our retailers, employees, and players. In California, 95 cents of every dollar spent on lottery games goes back to the community through contributions to public schools, player prizes, and retailer compensation. Our Mission
The California Lottery’s mission is to provide supplemental funding to California public schools. Since 1985, the California Lottery has contributed over $48 billion to schools. We appreciate our dedicated players, enthusiastic retailers, staff, and local communities— we couldn’t achieve this without YOU!

Lottery Retailers
Every California Lottery retailer plays a vital role in our mission, including numerous small and independent businesses throughout the state. In addition to regular commissions from tickets sold and redeemed, retailers also benefit when players win big. Over the last 41 years, retailers have earned more than $11 billion in commissions and bonuses. In 2025 alone, our 23,534 retailers collectively earned over $614.8 million. We are thankful for our retailers and appreciate their dedication to our mission.
