Official Rules

The JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw will begin April 20, 2026 and end June 1, 2026 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.

Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard for one winner and a guest (up to $36,396 value) includes:*

• Roundtrip business class airfare for two (2) from a California airport (i.e., either Los Angeles International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, Palm Springs International Airport, San Jose Mineta International Airport, San Diego International Airport, or Sacramento International Airport) to Boston Logan International Airport;
• Roundtrip private sedan transportation service from Boston Logan International Airport to Falmouth Harbor, in Falmouth, Massachusetts
• Roundtrip passenger ferry for two (2) from Falmouth Harbor to Oak Bluffs Harbor in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts

Tier 2: Two (2) Winners will each receive $5,000 + JAWS Merchandise (prize value of $5,635)

Tier 3: Ten (10) Winners will each receive $2,000 + JAWS Merchandise (prize value of $2,635)

JAWS Merchandise ($635 value) includes:

• One (1) JAWS 50th Anniversary Book
• One (1) JAWS Folding Beach Chair
• One (1) JAWS Cooler Bag

There is no cash option in lieu of any prizes. Prizes are not transferable. Prizes must be accepted in their entirety.  Any taxes on the value of the prizes above the applicable federal tax withholding are the responsibility of the winners. Neither the California Lottery, nor Pollard the Lottery’s fulfillment vendor, is responsible for any additional taxes incurred by the winners as a result of winning a prize. California Lottery will withhold and remit the standard federal tax withholding of 24% for US Citizen/Resident Aliens and 30% for Non-Resident Aliens on the cash prize. Pollard will remit the federal tax withholding of 31.58% of the Fair Market Value (FMV) of the noncash prize on behalf of the winner. Separate tax forms (W-2G for US Citizen/Resident Aliens or 1042-S for Non-Resident Aliens) will be issued to the winners for the cash and noncash portions of the prizes. At the time that the Grand Prize Winner claims and books the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard trip prize, they shall be deemed to have taken ownership of the entire trip prize, and the full claimed value of the entire trip prize (including the value of the travel portion) shall be reported to the IRS. Accordingly, the Grand Prize Winner may be responsible for any additional state or federal taxes resulting from the claimed trip prize, above and beyond those taxes withheld, reported, and paid on the Grand Prize Winner’s behalf by Pollard to the appropriate agencies. Pollard will issue the W‑2G or 1042-S form for the tax year in which the Grand Prize Winner claims and books the trip prize. Winners should consult with a tax professional for further clarification on tax responsibilities. 

*Pollard’s travel partner, Continental Travel Group (“Continental Travel”) will contact the Grand Prize Winner via email regarding their prize (“Winner Notification”). Continental Travel will provide forms to the Grand Prize Winner, which the Grand Prize Winner must complete, sign, and submit to Continental Travel within 60 days of receiving the Winner Notification. The Grand Prize Winner or their guest must be at least 21 years of age prior to booking the trip. The Grand Prize Winner’s failure to timely return the required forms and documentation (including that of their guest, if applicable) will result in the Grand Prize Winner’s forfeiture of the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard. The Grand Prize Winner must book the trip within 90 days of receiving the Winner Notification from Continental Travel or the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard shall be forfeited. The Grand Prize Winner’s use of the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard must take place between May 2027 and October 2027 (dates could vary slightly depending on the JAWS tour schedule). Failure to timely satisfy these conditions will result in the Grand Prize Winner forfeiting the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard trip prize. Accommodations and Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard inclusions are based on availability, and some blackout dates may apply. Pollard and Continental Travel reserve the right to book comparable accommodations should any of the accommodations offered in the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard become unavailable or unbookable.

All other expenses and costs, not expressly listed above, including, but not limited to, federal, state, and local taxes, parking, mileage, insurance, gratuities, meals, baggage fees, alcoholic beverages, personal expenses such as telephone calls, valet service, laundry, incidentals and the like, revision or cancellation fees that may be charged by the hotel or other suppliers are the Grand Prize Winner’s sole responsibility. All travel risks, insurance, loss, or damage due to Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard acceptance or use are the sole responsibility of Grand Prize Winner. Neither the Lottery, its commissioners, employees, agents, and officers will be responsible for any loss, liability, or damage arising out of Grand Prize Winner’s acceptance or use of the prize, or that of their guest.

Odds
The odds of winning a prize vary based on the total number of entries that are received and the total number of entries each player submits. 

Eligibility and Participation 
Players must be at least 18 years of age.  Players must meet eligibility requirements at the time of the promotional drawing.  To enter the JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw, players must register on the California Lottery website.  When registering, players must provide a valid California address.  Submissions must be entered from a location within California to be eligible for the JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw.  Players must provide true and current information.  Player must provide their true, full legal name when registering for the 2nd Chance program.  Failure to provide full legal name at registration will make the player ineligible to receive prizes from the California Lottery. In the JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw, only the person identified by name as the Winner on the California Lottery website at the time the Winner’s name is posted, which is supplied by the player during registration, may claim the prize from the California Lottery.  Any change in name, whether due to marriage or otherwise, must be reflected on the California Lottery’s registration page prior to the draw to be eligible for any prize.  Persons who register with fictitious names will be ineligible to win any prize.  The JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw is not open to certain California Lottery vendors or employees of the California Lottery, their agents, and certain family members residing in the same household in accordance with California Lottery Regulations.

How to Enter
To enter the JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw, players must log into their verified California Lottery 2nd Chance account or create a verified account at California Lottery to submit a 2nd Chance code.  Eligible, non-winning JAWS Scratchers tickets can be entered into the promotion by manual submission at 2nd Chance or by scanning each eligible, non-winning barcode using the California Lottery Official Mobile App.  Players will receive the standard number of entries based on price point (i.e., $5 ticket receives five (5) entries) and up to 50 bonus entries, for every eligible, non-winning JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance code submitted. The California Lottery is utilizing an optional digital extension for this game as a promotional advertising feature to reveal the bonus entries. Entries awarded are predetermined based on ticket purchased and not affected by playing or not playing the digital extension. 

Players will receive a pop-up upon the submission of an eligible non-winning JAWS Scratchers ticket inviting them to either play or skip the optional digital extension. If the user chooses to play, they select one item on the digital extension screen and the pre-determined number of bonus entries assigned to their ticket will be revealed. Players on the public website who choose to skip will be directed to the My 2nd Chance Submissions page which will display the number of bonus entries won; players on the mobile app who choose to skip will see the digital extension close and be presented with the default 2nd Chance screen. Choosing to play or skip the digital extension experience will not affect the number of bonus entries awarded.

All 2nd Chance code submissions will be limited to no more than a combined 500 code submissions per calendar month per participant.  Entering a code is considered a submission; however, submissions that offer multiple entries count as only one submission regardless of the number of associated entries.  

Draws
There will be one (1) draw at the end of the promotion to determine the thirteen (13) winners. Eligible, non-winning JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance codes must be submitted during the specific draw period to be eligible for entry into the draw for the JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw. The draw will occur within fifteen days after the entry period has ended with alternates drawn in the event a winner is disqualified.  The draw will take place in accordance with California Lottery Regulations and procedures. All eligible, non-winning JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance codes submitted into the draw are also automatically entered into the regular Scratchers 2nd Chance Weekly Pool Draws that apply. 

Winner Notification and Claims 
The winners of the JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw will be posted on the California Lottery website within twenty days after the entry deadline.  The California Lottery will randomly select alternate winners from the eligible JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw.  Using the contact information provided to the California Lottery by the winner, the California Lottery will notify the winner by e-mail to login into his/her account for “important information.”  Upon login to his/her California Lottery account, the winner will be notified of the winning prize.  Winners must submit a 2nd Chance Claim Form (PDF) in accordance with California Lottery Regulations and procedures.  In the event winners do not claim their prize within 180 days from the ‘Winners Posted By’ date, they will waive all rights to the prize.

The Grand Prize Winner will also receive a Winner Notification via email from Pollard’s travel partner, Continental Travel. Continental Travel will provide forms to the Trip Winner, which the Trip Winner (and their guest, if applicable) must complete, sign, and submit to Continental Travel within 60 days of receiving the Winner Notification. The Grand Prize Winner must book the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard trip within 90 days of receiving the Winner Notification from Continental Travel. Failure to timely satisfy these conditions will result in the Grand Prize Winner forfeiting the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard trip prize.

Winners of Tier 2 and Tier 3 prizes will also receive a winner communication from Pollard and must follow the directions outlined by Pollard to complete merchandise fulfillment.

Additional Terms

Players are responsible for complying with the Official Rules in addition to state and federal law and California Lottery Regulations.  Proof of age, eligibility, and identity must be furnished upon request.  Players agree to the California Lottery’s use of their name, likeness, photo, story, and hometown for advertising and publicity purposes, without compensation. By participating in the program, and/or accepting any prize or promotional award, players agree to and do release and hold harmless the California Lottery and its commissioners, employees, agents, and officers from any claim, demand, judgment, award, and/or any liability of any kind whatsoever.  The California Lottery reserves the right to modify or terminate this program at any time.  In the event of a conflict, these Official Rules supersede any applicable general rules or advertisements of the California Lottery.

A: Yes.  After submitting an eligible ticket, players are automatically entered into the regular Scratchers 2nd Chance Weekly Pool Draw.  To be eligible for the current week’s draw, players must submit their eligible, non-winning 2nd Chance codes online by Saturday at 11:59 pm or they will be eligible for the following week’s draw.  Each submission is good for one weekly draw.

Q: Where can players check to see how many entries were submitted into the Scratchers 2nd Chance Weekly Drawing and/or JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw?
A: Once players are logged into their My Account, follow the steps below:
1.  Click on “My Submissions” link.
2.  Verify submission of the 2nd Chance code.
3.  Click on the 2nd Chance code to view details of how many entries were submitted for the Scratchers 2nd Chance Weekly Drawing and/or JAWS Scratchers 2nd Chance Bonus Draw.

Q: When is the draw for the prizes?

A: Winners must follow and complete the steps in the 2nd Chance Claim Process. Winners of Tier 2 or Tier 3 prizes must also follow the directions outlined in the winner communication from Pollard.

The Grand Prize Winner must also complete, sign and return all required forms to Continental Travel. The Grand Prize Winner must book the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard trip within ninety (90) days of receiving a winner notification from Continental Travel. Failure to timely satisfy these conditions will result in the Grand Prize Winner forfeiting the Luxury VIP Trip to Martha’s Vineyard trip prize.
