Los Angeles Area Lottery Winner is Treating His Friends
SACRAMENTO – Dozens of oil workers in El Segundo will soon be able to enjoy a nice meal, courtesy of one of their friends. Derrick Tillman hit it big playing MEGA Millions® and he’s sharing the wealth.
Tillman’s ticket matched five out of six numbers in the draw on May 1 to win $192,007. “My eyes lit up. It spooked me for a minute,” Tillman said, describing his reaction when he went to verify his ticket.
Along with giving money to his church, like his momma told him to, Derrick said he’s buying lunch for everyone in his section at the oil refinery where he works. So, what’s on the menu? “I’ll probably go to Costco and buy some steaks,” said Tillman.
Ironically, Tillman was on his lunch break when he stopped to purchase a single ticket at Leonard’s Liquor Store, which is located at 630 North Sepulveda Boulevard #7 in El Segundo (Los Angeles County). That ticket successfully matched the numbers 45, 27, 52, 31, 24, missing only the Mega number of 38.
If you’re wondering what took Tillman so long to come forward. He said his busy work schedule wouldn’t allow it. Tillman believes in the place. He’s also planning to use his lottery winnings to invest in company stock.
Our next winner might be you. The jackpot for tonight’s MEGA Millions draw is $24 million. Think of the treats you could buy with that!
