Security Guard Becomes First California Black Exclusive Scratchers® Millionaire but Still Finishes his Shift!

Mitchel Reynolds 400

SACRAMENTO – Mitchel Reynolds is a dedicated employee. Earlier this week, he was working the graveyard shift as a security guard at an area shopping mall when he scratched his California Lottery Black Exclusive Scratchers ticket. He was pretty sure he had won something big, but knew he had to complete his shift; so he tried to remain calm and keep working. He went to sleep at 8 a.m. and when he woke up that afternoon, he returned to a retailer to confirm he had won the top prize: $1 million!

Reynolds quickly called his mom and brothers to share the good news. He says he will pay off his mom’s house, buy himself a new Toyota Prius and he may spoil his new puppy a little too! He purchased his ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 600 North Glenoaks Boulevard in Burbank. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The California Lottery Black Exclusive Scratchers game is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. The oversized ticket, which features an almost all black motif with a touch of gold, offers a total of 24 top prizes of $1,000,000.

If you’re hoping this game is as easy to play as it is fun to hold – you’re in luck! Just match any of “YOUR NUMBERS” to any of the six “WINNING NUMBERS” and win that prize. Uncover a “10X” symbol to automatically win 10 times that prize. Uncover a “20X” symbol to automatically win 20 times that prize. Uncover a “WIN” symbol and win all 20 prizes automatically! For more information click here.

And don’t forget, every non-winning ticket can be entered into our 2nd Chance Program for another try at becoming California’s latest millionaire! Just subscribe and submit any non-winning California Black Exclusive Scratchers ticket code for another chance to win.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 95 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
