Shlomo Ashash of Los Angeles today walked into the California Lottery’s Van Nuys District Office with a Millions in Cash Scratchers® ticket worth $1 million in his hand, thus becoming the 11th instant millionaire created by the Lottery’s Millions in Cash game.
Why did he choose today to come in when he actually discovered he was an instant millionaire on Friday? Because he was working. Ashash repairs plumbing water damage and really enjoys his work. He’s busy all the time and makes good money. So he decided to wait until he had a break to come and claim his prize, even though he was extremely excited about his big win.
Ashash purchased his ticket at Town and Country Newstand, which is located at 6330 West Third Street in Los Angeles. He took his four tickets home with the food he bought, and while eating started to scratch the tickets.
“I saw so many zeroes I thought maybe I had won $10,000, and then I thought maybe $100,000, and then I saw it was a million,” Ashash said, adding that after seeing he had won a million, he picked up his little dog and started hugging and kissing it.
“I couldn’t sleep the next two nights,” Ashash added, “I must have checked the ticket 100,000 times. I still couldn’t believe it. I just thought it couldn’t be.”
So far Ashash’s only plans for his newfound wealth are helping out some family and friends and paying some bills.
