The California Lottery today announced that a retired couple from Temecula are the latest “Millions in Cash” Scratcher® players to parlay a $5 investment into an instant $1 million prize.
Marcos Zamora and his wife purchased his winning ticket at the CVS Pharmacy located at 30640 Rancho California Road in Temecula. When they went home to scratch it, his wife thought they had won $1,000 and then told their daughter to double-check it for them. When her excitement level suddenly went through the roof, her parents discovered they may have been just a little off.
“We didn’t have our glasses on,” Zamora said.
Once he realized he was California’s latest instant millionaire, Zamora was singing an entirely different tune. “This is a gift from heaven,” he said. “I just can’t believe it.”
The couple currently has no plans for how they will use their new riches, but said they are pretty sure they’ll formulate a few ideas by the time they get their check.
