Shane Hayden is the owner of Shaneco Plumbing & Rooter. When he found out he won, he says he wanted to sign the ticket right away. “I was afraid a gust of wind would come and carry my ticket away, like in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’” he explained. Once he checked and double-checked his numbers and knew his win was real, Hayden called his mom, dad, and girlfriend to tell them the good news, and then went home, opened an 18-year-old bottle of Scotch and celebrated.
Hayden is a fairly young businessman, but has wisdom beyond his years. He already had his financial plan done for the year, but he may have to alter that a bit. “I plan to buy some new tools for my business, help my parents, and invest the rest.” He says he was already planning a vacation to Thailand this year and that will still happen. Karma may have played a part in his win too because last Saturday he played in a charity golf tournament and won a $200 cash prize, which he promptly donated back to the charity. A few hours later, he won Fantasy 5… luck or Karma? You decide.
Hayden has only been playing the Lottery regularly for about a year, using the same two sets of numbers each time – his birthdate, two lucky numbers, and the age he was when he started playing the Lottery. Hayden bought his winning ticket at North Oaks Liquor & Market, which is located at 1086 Avenue De Los Arboles in Thousand Oaks (Ventura County).
