Pat Clark enjoys playing the lottery. He plays Scratchers® and draw games on a weekly basis – jokingly calling it his “retirement hobby.” Clark admits, “It’s not a good one, but I had a feeling that something good was going to happen and I just kept on trying.” And it’s a good thing he did because he just won $5 million on the $5 Million Jackpot Scratchers game.
Clark bought his winning ticket, while cashing in another one. He decided to purchase three tickets total and that third one turned out to be worth $5 million. But the 60-year-old wasn’t sure at first. “I didn’t have my glasses on and I didn’t know I had won. I had to go verify it,” he explained. So he went back to the store where the cashier confirmed the ticket was a big winner. Clark added, “I think he was more excited than I was.”
While that may have been the case in that moment, Clark admits he’s pretty pumped up. “It’s been great so far, just haven’t got any sleep and… now it becomes a whole different issue. What to do.” Clark doesn’t have all the answers right now, but does plan to use some of the money to supplement his retirement and to help his children and other family members. “I’m going to do what I can for them.” He also plans to get some financial advice to help figure out the rest.
“You have this dream and it happens,” he said. “This can’t get any better.”
