Jensen Symonds
  • Significant Journey for Nevada Man Who Claimed MEGA Millions® Ticket Sold in Nipton Worth $446,292

  • Jensen Symonds has done a lot of driving the last few days and he’ll soon know the significance of having logged so many miles. His trips from his home in Nevada to California have already netted him $446,292.

That’s how much he won after his ticket matched five numbers in the MEGA Millions draw on Tuesday night. “I’m thankful. We’ll see what happens after we get the funds and how life goes from there,” Symonds said.

Getting to this point has already been interesting. Symonds, a former Marine, was in California on personal business Tuesday when he stopped at Primm Valley Lotto, which is located at I-15 and Stateline Nevada in Nipton (San Bernardino County). “I’ve had friends buy for me, but officially this is only the second time that I have bought a lotto ticket,” Symonds said. He decided to make it worth his while by playing his own numbers. The ones that hit were a combination of significant birthdates. “Me and the kids,” Symonds said.

Once back at his home in Nevada, Symonds took a look at his paycheck from his job in sales and marketing, which this time he says was “rather low.” So he told himself “let me go see if those lotto numbers did anything for me.” Boy did they! He noticed on the California Lottery website that one of his tickets had matched the numbers 7, 18, 29, 1, and 6, missing only the Mega number of 16.

Symonds said he’s got too calm of a demeanor to jump and scream, but there’s no denying the potential of this win for his family. Just last year, Symonds says he, his wife, and his children were at times without a permanent home, having to stay with family and friends. But after the birth of their fourth child, Symonds said things have seemed to change. “He’s our lucky child. Since he was born I got a decent job and found a new place to live.” Now he has a big Lottery win! “It is a lot. It can work. Life-changing for sure,” said Symonds after he claimed his ticket and prepared to leave the Lottery’s Inland Empire District Office for his journey back home.
