  • Swear Jar Money Leads to $1 Million Scratchers® Win in Fresno County!

  • It’s not every day that paying yourself a fine for a bad habit pays off big time, but for Isaias Herrera that’s exactly what happened! The Riverdale lottery player decided to use the money he puts into his swear jar to pick up a $10 California Black Exclusive Scratchers ticket. His decision turned to be a good one as Herrera won the top prize of $1 million!

Herrera decided to purchase the ticket after seeing the California Black Exclusive Scratchers television commercial featuring Lady Luck. He told us that his wife usually buys their Scratchers tickets. “I usually don’t have luck when playing the Scratchers tickets -- until this win,” he said.

The currently unemployed food production worker said he took the ticket to a friend’s house after he purchased it at the Texaco Star Mart, located at 3610 West Mt. Whitney Avenue in Riverdale (Fresno County). “My friend and I were just going to play video games,” said Herrera. Those plans changed after he found out he won. What makes this tale of luck even better is that he scratched the winning ticket the day before his birthday!

Herrera says he plans to invest the money, already planning for a better future. He also insists he did not swear when he found out he won $1 million, so for now that jar is still empty.
