San Diego Mom & Pop Store Sells $2 Million “Set for Life” Scratchers® Prize

SACRAMENTO – You may have never heard of Ray’s Market, but this little mom & pop store will soon be on every California Lottery player’s radar. The Spring Valley store has been open for business for about six years now, but just recently started selling California Lottery tickets this past July. That’s why it’s all the more remarkable that they’ve already had a big winner.

Just last week, Ray’s Market sold a winning “Set For Life” Scratchers ticket. The “Set for Life” jackpot pays the winner $100,000 each year for 20 years. The winner has already come forward and wished to remain anonymous, but store manager Raymond Kassab said of the winner “he’s a regular customer here, and he’s a really nice guy.”

Kassab said that Lottery sales at the store “have been awesome!” With news getting out of this recent winner, lottery sales at Ray’s Market are sure to get even better. Ray’s Market is located at 9762 Campo Road in Spring Valley.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. Since 2000, Lottery players have contributed $1 billion to public schools each year, and, since we began in 1985, Lottery players have contributed a total of more than $24 billion to education.
