Sacramento -- California Lottery officials announced that XTRA REWARD, a special-feature promotion for the SuperLotto Plus game, will be held from June 2 - July 14, 2001. An eight-digit number will be drawn every Saturday and Wednesday giving players a chance to win $50,000. (Please add this eight-digit number to the draw results section in your Lotto Box.)

Each time a player buys 5 to 10 SuperLotto Plus plays for one draw on a single ticket, they automatically receive one to three free Xtra Reward numbers. The Xtra Reward number is a unique eight-digit number, which will appear on the bottom of each ticket. These numbers are sequential and unique to each ticket. Players match the Xtra Reward number to the Lottery-selected eight-digit number and $50,000.

Players can find out if they are winners by visiting a retailer, visiting the Lottery website at www.calottery.com or checking the local newspaper.

The California Lottery sells its games through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.7 percent of its sales to players as prizes, 34.1 percent to public schools, and 13.2 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.9 percent for retailer compensation. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $12 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget.
