El Monte Player Wins $750,000 Crossword Payday at Lucky Store

Mario Bermejo 440

Family-Owned Donut & Ice Cream Shop Has Second Large Scratchers® Win

SACRAMENTO – Mario Bermejo has great taste! That’s why this discerning California Lottery player decided to stop at SK Donuts & Ice Cream, located at 3571 North Peck Road in El Monte (Los Angeles County), to pick up two $10 20X Crossword Scratchers tickets.

That decision turned out to be a great one for Bermejo because the El Monte resident won the $750,000 top prize! “It’s been a fun ticket for me to play,” Bermejo said. “I only bought two and when I won, I thought it was only for a thousand bucks,” the construction worker admitted.

Bermejo won’t be wasting his newfound crossword fortune on frivolous things. This dad plans on buying a house for his family and investing in a college fund for his children.

While this may be the first big win for Bermejo, it’s actually the second time in two years that this small family-owned donut and ice cream shop sold a huge winning ticket! SK Donuts & Ice Cream helped make a millionaire back in March 2012 when another lucky player bought a $10 California Lottery Scratchers ticket and walked away with a whopping $1 million win!

Southern California lottery players should take note of this small town because this is the fourth winning Scratchers ticket sold in El Monte worth $250,000 or more in just the last two years.

The winning certainly doesn’t stop there. Like all Lottery Scratchers games, the 20X Crossword game comes with a second chance to win the top prize. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning 20X Crossword Scratchers ticket codes for another chance to win. The game is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public schools.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 95 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
