Retired Dry Cleaner “Strikes it Rich” and Wins $250,000 Top Prize
SACRAMENTO – Joseph Soussan admittedly loves to gamble. He enjoys going to Vegas and playing the Lottery. He plays all Lottery games but really enjoys playing Scratchers® the most. He usually buys the $10 Scratchers games, but most recently he decided to change it up and try the $5 Strike It Rich game. This decision proved to be a good one – he won the $250,000 top prize!
Soussan went to the same gas station he always goes to and bought his lucky Lottery ticket – Barranca Shell located at 3720 Barranca Parkway in Irvine. When he scratched it, he couldn’t believe his eyes so he went back to the clerk and had him check it too. Then he went home and still didn’t believe his luck until his wife and daughter both confirmed the win. “I kept asking, ‘Are you sure?’” he explained.
Soussan says he really doesn’t know what he’ll do with the money yet, but said he might take his family out, “Maybe to McDonalds,” he joked!

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. Since 2000, Lottery players have contributed $1 billion to public schools each year, and, since we began in 1985, Lottery players have contributed a total of more than $25 billion to education. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
