Senator Gloria Romero Presents California Lottery's Exceptional Educator Award to La Puente Principal


SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "The Big Spin®" show airs Saturday, May 24, 2003, in twelve television markets statewide.

Senator Gloria Romero presented Penny Fraumeni, Fairgrove Academy Principal, with the California Lottery's Exceptional Educator Award on "The Big Spin®" show. Senator Romero explains, "Seven years ago, in order to alleviate problems associated with overcrowding, Penny approached the Hacienda La Puente School District with her vision, to create and develop what is known today as the Fairgrove Academy."

Located in La Puente, Fairgrove Academy provides all students a strong academic curriculum with an emphasis in arts and technology. The arts program infuses creative lessons with academic ones. Through performing arts like drama, music, and dance, Fraumeni's students' minds are stimulated, making learning both challenging and fun. Her students are introduced to the computer age of learning by ensuring that every student is provided with the most innovative technological support systems. Romero concluded, "Penny, for your steadfast commitment to bring Fairgrove Academy to life, I'm proud to proclaim you an Exceptional Educator."

The California Lottery's distinguished "Exceptional Educator" award is presented on "The Big Spin®" television show. The Lottery enlists various legislators to present these awards which recognize the outstanding teachers whose extraordinary efforts in their schools have added significantly to the success of California students.
