SACRAMENTO, June 12, 2000 --Lottery officials announced that three winners from Lake Elsinore claimed Saturday's, June 10, 2000 first SuperLotto Plus jackpot of $32 million. The winners, Kathy Unger, Terri Moore and Michelle Coutlee are best friends in their forties who have played together since 1986. The original group of seven players dwindled to three friends who played the same numbers and hit all five SuperLotto Plus numbers and the Mega number last Saturday night. The threesome are the first winners of the California Lottery's SuperLotto Plus game.

Kathy Unger found out that the lucky numbers 13, 14, 30, 08, 23 plus the Mega number 6 had won when she checked their tickets against the winning number report that she had picked up at the Circle K where she bought the winning ticket. "Since I was a child, I had dreams that I would win a large sum of money. Now this dream is a reality," said Unger. The winners chose the cash option and will receive a lump sum payment of roughly half the jackpot amount or $15.2 million. Two of the winners will receive $6.5 million and one who only spent one dollar will receive $1.6 million.

In total, 512,181 winners won in the various categories of the first SuperLotto Plus draw. Twelve tickets won the second prize category of $15,600 for matching 5 numbers. The first of these winners, Froilan Bayani claimed his prize in San Francisco. "There is no way I could lose," said Bayani. "The money I spend on my tickets goes to a good cause--supporting education, anything I win is just extra." Bayani plans to use the money to buy his wife a watch for their 20th wedding anniversary. If he had won this prize level on the last draw of SuperLotto, he would have won only $1,845.
