Avid Lottery Player is now a Millionaire!

SACRAMENTO – Maria Miguel is an avid Lottery player who has her routine down to a science. She buys a bunch of Scratchers® tickets, then takes them home and scratches them off while entering her non-winning ticket codes into our Replay program for a 2nd Chance to win. Miguel was all set to enter a non-winning $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers ticket when she noticed the ticket was only partially scratched off. She received the shock of a lifetime when she finally scratched off the entire ticket and learned she was an instant $1 million winner. Miguel told us that her first reaction to seeing the winning ticket was “I can’t believe it, am I seeing things?”

When asked what she was going to do with her winnings, Miguel told us she hasn’t yet decided, but whatever she does, she wants to stay grounded. The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 3080 San Jose Avenue in San Francisco. 7-Eleven will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers ticket is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. The oversized red & gold ticket offers players 21 chances to win various cash prizes. To win, simply match any of "YOUR NUMBERS" to any of the six "WINNING NUMBERS" to win that prize. Uncover a "10X" to win 10 times or a "20X" to win 20 times that prize. Uncover a "WIN" symbol and win all 20 prizes automatically. Uncover a "100" in the FAST SPOT, win $100. Overall game odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.30. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.2 million.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
