One Stop after a Long Week at Work Pays Rowland Heights Man $1.3 Million!

Share:

Prize Breaks Down to $1,000 a Week for 25 Years!

SACRAMENTO – Jose Rodriguez was on his way home from a long week of work on the night of Friday, March 15th when he decided to swing by One Stop Liquor, which is located at 300 West Whittier Boulevard in La Habra (Orange County). It was there that he decided to buy a $2 California Lucky For Life Scratchers® ticket. The Rowland Heights resident thanks divine intervention for bringing him a little luck. “I told the Virgin Mary that I needed a break,” Rodriguez said. “I got home and went straight to my Virgin Mary and said thank you.”

Rodriguez said even though he was tired from a 10 hour shift of work, he knew he won when he ran the California Lucky For Life Scratchers ticket though a scanner after seeing the “LIFE” symbol. His wife on the other hand…that is another story. “It took me an hour to convince her we had won. She cried more than me,” Rodriguez explained.

Rodriguez, who is a welder at an aerospace company, says he plans to pay off his house, as well as another property he rents out.

The California Lucky for Life Scratchers family is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. Games are available at the $1, $2, $5, and $10 price points. Each price point offers a similar play style. If you match any of your numbers to any of the winning numbers you uncover when you scratch the ticket, then you win that prize. If you uncover a money bag symbol, you automatically win the prize associated with it. And, if you uncover a LIFE symbol, you win the top prize for that game – a prize paid out weekly over the course of 25 years, or available as a lump sum amount. As you move up in price from $1 to $10, you have more chances to win and the potential prizes just keep getting higher.

Starting with the $1 game, players can win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to $500 a week for 25 years. Four lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a $375,000 lump sum payment. The $2 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to $1,000 a week for 25 years. Four lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a $750,000 lump sum payment. The $5 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to $2,500 a week for 25 years. A whopping 10 lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a $1.9 million lump sum payment. And finally, the $10 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to the grandest prize of all – $5,000 a week for 25 years. Ten lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a lump sum payment of $3,750,000 – the largest instant prize the Lottery has ever offered.

The winning doesn’t stop there – like all Lottery Scratchers games, the California Lucky for Life games come with second chances to win the top prizes, as well as a bonus draw. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning California Lucky for Life Scratchers ticket code for a chance to win. Five weekly winners will get $1,000, and one final grand-prize winner will get $10,000. For more information on the bonus draws, please click here.
