SACRAMENTO -- The new California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday August 7, 1999 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of 219,500. The Spin-Spin-Spin contestant on this week's show was a proxy for Santosh Kapoor, a homemaker from Union City. Santosh's son, Pardeep Kapoor spun the wheel for her and won $50,000. Pardeep was also the son who gave her the winning ticket for Mother's Day. Santosh plans to pay bills with the prize money awarded.

Richard Gibson, a warehouse worker from Riverside and his mother have a unique Lottery relationship. Gibson buys the Fantasy 5
TM tickets and his mother mails them in. Gibson won $20,000 playing Fantasy 5 and plans to split his win with his mother and buy himself a truck.

This week's top Fame & Fortune winner, Shawn Story, a house painter from Norwalk, plans to take a vacation and buy a house with his $75,000 win. Other winners include Sammy Fernandez from Rancho Cucamonga who won $7,000 and Karan Carter from Marysville winning $5,000.

Gary Couto, a landscape maintenance worker, who lives in Dos Palos but works in Fireball said, "The whole town of Fireball will be watching the show." Couto also knows exactly what he's going to do with the $40,000 he won as this week's top California Gold contestant. He plans to pay bills, spend some money on his house and yard, donate to two churches, invest in bonds and play bingo with his wife to celebrate both of their birthdays.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools, and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $10 billion for public schools and has provided an annual average of approximately 38 percent of the Lottery's total revenues to schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
