Woman Wins Fortune While Waiting for a Friend

SACRAMENTO – Sitting around and waiting for someone while they have an appointment is generally not a pleasant or rewarding experience. But that’s not the case for Carolyn Rodriguez of Newark, as she turned her wait into a million dollars after winning the top prize in the California Lottery’s $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers® game.

The retired catering employee bought her winning ticket at Kwik & Convenient Food Liquor & Wine, which is located at 3157 Walnut Avenue in Fremont (Alameda County). “I’m still overwhelmed,” said Rodriguez after claiming her prize. As for her plans…“I love cats and plan to adopt as many as possible,” Rodriguez said.

$1,000,000 Fortune is a $10 Scratchers game. The game is the part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. The oversized red and gold ticket offers players 21 chances to win various prizes. To win, simply match any of "YOUR NUMBERS" to any of the six "WINNING NUMBERS" to win that prize. Uncover a "10X" to win 10 times or a "20X" to win 20 times that prize. Uncover a "WIN" symbol and win all 20 prizes automatically. Uncover a "100" in the FAST SPOT, win $100. Overall game odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.30. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.2 million.

The winning doesn’t stop there – like all Lottery Scratchers games, the $1,000,000 Fortune game comes with second chances to win the top prizes. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers ticket codes for a chance to win.
