Breakfast at West Covina Restaurant Nets Woman a MEGA Millions® Prize Worth More Than $204,000
SACRAMENTO – It’s been a little more than a week since Nga Nhan matched five of six numbers in the October 9 MEGA Millions draw to win a prize worth $204,589. What was the reason she took so long to claim her prize? She just found out yesterday that she was a winner.
You see, Nhan is such a loyal Lottery player that she plays ALL the games – MEGA Millions, SuperLotto Plus® and Scratchers®. Because she plays a lot, she checks her tickets infrequently. She took her ticket into a local market and the clerk actually told her she had a $20,000 winner and gave her a claim form. Her son checked the ticket again and noticed that the clerk had forgotten to mention one more zero. “And she was already really excited,” he said.
Nhan purchased her big winner at Penny’s Restaurant, which is located at 969 South Glendora Avenue, Suite C in West Covina (Los Angeles County). The ticket successfully matched the numbers 22, 15, 6, 16 and 37, missing only the Mega number of 3. She said she has no plans for her winnings at this time, but she said it will come in handy as she nears retirement.
The California Lottery reminds winners to sign the back of their ticket, keep tickets in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes.
MEGA Millions is a multistate game, played in California and 43 other jurisdictions (41 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Players pick five numbers from 1 to 56 plus a Mega number from 1 to 46. Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s MEGA Millions site for more information.
