Milpitas POWERBALL® Winner Wastes No Time Coming Forward!

SACRAMENTO – Lea Yaneza reacted to winning a POWERBALL prize worth $1,159,103 million prize like many winners do…she couldn’t believe her eyes.  “I checked the website and at first I thought I matched three numbers.  I was jumping up and down, then I realized I matched five,” Yaneza explained.  “I checked over and over, I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”  That’s a typical reaction from a Lottery winner, but what Yaneza felt next isn’t so typical.  “Once I found out how much I won, I felt relaxed!”  She says the relaxed feeling comes from knowing she can pay for her kids’ educations and buy herself a house.

Yaneza purchased the winning ticket was sold at Landess Arco Service, which is located at 1575 Landess Avenue in Milpitas. Her ticket successfully matched the numbers 24, 36, 21, 45, 42, missing only the Powerball number of 15.

Since no one matched all six numbers in last Saturday night’s draw, the jackpot for Wednesday’s POWERBALL draw has soared to $400 million, the third largest POWERBALL jackpot of all time.

POWERBALL is a multistate game, played in California (and 42 other states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Players pick five numbers from 1 to 59 plus a Powerball number from 1 to 35. Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PST. Tickets sales are suspended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. the day of the draw. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s POWERBALL site for more information.

And remember, checking the daily draw results is easier than ever. All past and current Lottery draw results can be obtained for FREE by dialing 1-800-LOTTERY and selecting option 1, or via our website at
