Contestants Give Thanks For $225,000 In Prizes

SACRAMENTO - California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, November 27, 1999 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $225,000.

Two contestants played the Fantasy 5
TM Dream Machine on this week's show. Sulejman Dizdarevic of Garden Grove, was celebrating two things at this week's taping: his appearance on the Big Spin 2000 and his birthday. Dizdarevic won himself a $60,000 cash prize. Leola Williams, an accounts receivable clerk from Hercules, was the second contestant to play the Dream Machine. Williams plans to take a luxury cruise with the $10,000 she won.

This week's California Gold contestants won a combined total of $155,000. The top California Gold winner was John Garcia, a business student from Riverside. Garcia won $60,000 while Lenora Aguero, a homemaker from San Jose won $50,000. Aguero plans to use her prize money to invest in a duplex. "Everybody's so happy for me, we can't stop smiling," said Aguero. Other California Gold contestants won a total of $45,000.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools, and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $10.9 billion for public schools and has provided an annual average of approximately 38 percent of the Lottery's total revenues to schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
