Marina Resident Wins $1 Million On "Big Spin® 2000" Show

SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, July 22, 2000 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $1,317,500.

"I'm going to buy a house and a new car," said Marina resident Mitzi Gabriana. Gabriana bought a winning Scratchers® ticket with three "TV" show symbols on it. That was Gabriana's ticket to the "Big Spin 2000" show where she won $1 million! Other California Gold contestants won a combined total of $22,500.

Fantasy 5
TM contestants won big on this week's show. Stan Caspary of Redding got a package in the mail from the California Lottery informing him his Fantasy 5 ticket had been randomly selected and he was going to the "Big Spin® 2000" show to play the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. This wasn't the first time Caspary had luck on his side. Caspary said he's been lucky for the past six years winning cars, cruises and trips. Caspary, a self-employed businessman, won $85,000 on the Dream Machine and plans to use his prize money for his business and his children's education. An administrator from Rancho Mirage, Earl Cantin won $80,000, while Gloria Armstrong of Oakland won $25,000. Cindy Parkhurst, proxy for San Bernardino resident David Parkhurst played for $65,000. Cindy, David Parkhurst's daughter, said her father plans to use the $65,000 for his retirement.

"I'm going to use my prize money to take care of my two little angels," said Scott Rybacki of Santa Rosa. Rybacki was this week's spinner winning $40,000 and as he stated, plans to use the money on his children.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.5 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
