More Than $400,000 Won On "Big Spin® 2000" Show

SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, August 19, 2000, in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $412,500.

Riverside resident Dennis Dalbeck Jr. bought a "Big Spin" Scratchers ticket that revealed three SPIN symbols on it. That ticket entitled Dalbeck to spin the largest prize wheel in the world. Dalbeck spun the wheel and won $180,000 that he plans to use to buy a new truck, pay-off bills and put money away for his children's college fund.

Sabino Burgos of Paramount was this week's top California Gold winner. He plans to take a trip to Hawaii with his prize of $75,000. Other California Gold winners won a combined total of $22,500.

Fantasy 5TM contestant Shirley Disbrough of Stockton was a Fantasy 5TM contestant on "The Big Spin®" show 2 years ago and won $70,000. She paid off her bills and took a vacation with her prize money. As luck will have it, Disbrough will now take another vacation with the $65,000 she won as this week's top Fantasy 5 contestant.

"I want to travel to Australia and Jerusalem," said Fantasy 5 contestant Jose Atienza Jr. of Norwalk. Atienza won $30,000 on the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.

Fantasy 5 contestant Magdalena Capa of Glendale said, "I'm going to take a long, long vacation with my family." Capa won $30,000 on the Dream Machine. Joe Cosper of Huntington Beach plans to remodel his home and take a vacation with the $10,000 he won.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.5 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which include 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
