Two Top Prize Winners on New $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers® Game

Share:

SACRAMENTO – The winning continues on the popular $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers ticket as two more Californians win the top prize. The lucky winners are Jerry Scott, who bought his ticket in Modesto (Stanislaus County), and Tigran Zargaryan, who bought his ticket in La Crescenta (Los Angeles County).

Believe it or not, but Jerry Scott is new to playing the Lottery! The retired phone company worker only began playing six weeks ago, but since then he has won a $10 prize, a $1,000 prize and now, the $1,000,000 top prize, all on the new $1,000,000 Fortune ticket.  About a month and a half ago Scott was shopping in a store after he finished playing a round of golf. He tells us he noticed a player cashing in their $1,000,000 Fortune ticket, so he decided to try the game.  He bought two tickets and that’s when he won his first $10 and $1,000 prize. Then yesterday, after he finished another round of golf, Scott was in store buying a soda when he decided to try his luck one more time. Lucky man that he is, Scott won the $1 million top prize.  When he realized he had won, he got in his car and drove back to the retailer where he bought the ticket. “I knew I was sane, but I kept looking at it every time I stopped, making sure I still saw the $1 million,” he said.

Speaking of lucky, Scott isn’t the only lucky one when it comes to winning. The retailer where he bought the ticket is lucky too!  In 1987, Jack’s Liquors, which is located at 910 Oakdale Road in Modesto, sold a winning ticket worth $4 million. Then on March 30 of this year, a player won $227,995 in the MEGA Millions game. Then again in September, another player won $21,021 on SuperLOTTO Plus.  Now, Jack’s Liquors can boast selling a $1 million ticket as well.  Scott plans on buying himself a new truck with his prize, and he might do a little kitchen remodeling for his wife of 46 years.

Tigran Zargaryan also won the $1 million top prize on the new $1,000,000 Fortune ticket.  He bought his lucky $10 ticket at Christie’s Liquor, which is located at 3040 Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta. Each retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning tickets.

The $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers ticket is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. The oversized red & gold ticket offers players 21 chances to win various cash prizes. To win, simply match any of "YOUR NUMBERS" to any of the six "WINNING NUMBERS" to win that prize. Uncover a "10X" to win 10 times or a "20X" to win 20 times that prize. Uncover a "WIN" symbol and win all 20 prizes automatically. Uncover a "100" in the FAST SPOT, win $100. Overall game odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.30. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.2 million.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
