SACRAMENTO -- The new California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday October 16, 1999 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $227,500.

"It's amazing," said Joseph Aurelio, a printer from Temple after winning $95,000 playing the Fantasy 5™ Dream Machine. Aurelio will be paying off his bills and taking his family on a trip with the prize money he won.

Three Fame & Fortune winners were looking towards the stars for their chance to win big. This week's top Fame & Fortune winner is Odilia Valdez, from Los Angeles, who won $32,000. "I'm going to use the money for a down payment on a house," said Valdez. Other Fame & Fortune winners were Kennard Southard from Sacramento who won $8,000 and Edwin Copeland from Los Angeles winning $5,000.

"I want to buy a house," said Patricia Estrada, from Los Angeles. Estrada's Scratchers® with three "Spin" symbols on it won her a chance at the largest prize wheel in the world. Once at the wheel, Estrada won $40,000.

Phyllis Blake from Palm Springs was this week's top California Gold winner. Blake won $25,000 and said, "I'm going to spread my money around where it'll do the best good."

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools, and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools and has provided an annual average of approximately 38 percent of the Lottery's total revenues to schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
