San Pablo Resident Wins Big On "Big Spin® 2000" Show

SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, August 12, 2000, in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $287,500.

"I'm buying a house," said Angelina Macaraeg of San Pablo after winning $75,000 playing California Gold. Other California Gold winners won a combined total of $22,500.

Fantasy 5TM Dream Machine contestants won big on this week's show. Maxine Bilbrew of Los Angeles said she will share the $60,000 she won with her family. Fantasy 5TM contestant Bill Rice, a mechanic from Bakersfield, won $55,000 and said he plans to invest his prize money and buy a truck. Fantasy 5TM contestant Armond Burroughs of Lakewood won $10,000 at his turn up at the Dream Machine and plans to use his prize money for his home. Burroughs is a winner for the second time on the Fantasy 5TM Dream Machine. Last August Burroughs won $45,000 playing Fantasy 5TM.

Eloisa Magana, a quality control specialist from San Jose, had been given a Scratchers® ticket, that had already been scratched off, with three "Spin" symbols on it. That ticket entitled Magana to spin the largest prize wheel in the world. Magana spun the wheel and won $50,000. Magana plans to put a down payment on a home with her prize money.

Los Angeles resident Thelma Mata was this week's top High Roller winner. Mata won $10,000 and plans to share her prize money with her 9 children and 9 grandchildren. Maria Servin of Modesto won $5,000.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.5 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which include 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget.
