Hasty Break Leads to $1 Million in San Jose!

Compartir:

SACRAMENTO – The saying, “When you gotta go, you gotta go,” means a lot more to a lucky California Lottery player. You see, when nature called, Vincent Anchondo wound up making a stop that led to a life-changing win.

Here’s what happened: When Anchondo stopped at a local Rotten Robbie store, which is located at 1304 Peidmont Road in San Jose, he decided to test his luck and buy the $10 California Black Premium Scratchers®. He won a free ticket on that one, so he stepped back into the store and bought the $10 Holiday Magic Scratchers. Once he scratched that ticket, he couldn’t believe his eyes!

“I sat there for a long time staring at it because I wasn’t sure if what I was seeing was real,” he said. “I kind of froze.” Once he realized the $1 million win was in fact real, Anchondo did something the Lottery encourages all winners to do. “The first thing I did was grab a pen and sign the back.”

Anchondo says the money is going to help a lot and make things a little easier. He hopes to buy a house with some of the winnings.

But that’s not all. The Rotten Robbie store where Anchondo bought his lucky Scratchers wins too! That California Lottery retail location will be receiving a $5,000 bonus check just for selling the winning ticket! (The retailer bonus is not subtracted from the winner’s jackpot prize.)

For other players, the winning doesn’t have to stop there! All non-winning California Lottery Scratchers come with a second chance to win another great prize of up to $25,000 during our weekly draw. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning Scratchers ticket code for a chance to win.

This is all part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public education.

The California Lottery is a $6 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State’s General Fund. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. In FY 2016-17, the Lottery created 83 new millionaires. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
