MEGA JACKPOT ADVISORY: SUPERLotto PLUS JACKPOT ROLLS TEN TIMES - TO $70 MILLION
SACRAMENTO, December 29, 2003 – Lottery Officials have announced the SuperLotto Plus jackpot for Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at $70 million after no one matched the winning combination -- 12, 14, 17, 34, 47, MEGA 26 -- drawn Saturday evening. "Ring in the New Year by becoming California's newest mega millionaire" said Lottery CEO Anthony Molica. California's public schools will also celebrate the New Year with additional funds equating to $42 million from Lottery ticket sales associated with this jackpot.
A single jackpot winner of $70 million who chooses the 26 graduated annual payments would receive approximately $1,750,000 the first year and those payments would graduate to $3,570,000 by the 26th year (before taxes). A single jackpot winner who chose the cash option would receive the estimated cash value which is roughly half the announced jackpot or $35 million (before taxes).
The retailer who sells a single winning $70 million ticket will receive a $350,000 bonus. SuperLotto Plus can be played at more than 18,000 retail business establishments statewide. The SuperLotto Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
