Holiday Cheer Brings Big Spin® 2000 Contestants A Combined Total Of $230,000

SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, December 25, 1999 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $230,000.

California Gold contestants took a trip to the gold mine winning a combined total of $135,000. "I have an old house and I'm going to use the money I won to remodel," said this week's top winner Ramon Hernandez. Hernandez, a car details supervisor from Inglewood won $60,000. "I kept jumping up and down, and up and down. I couldn't believe I won," said California Gold contestant Lonnie Beal of Altadena. Beal won $30,000 at his turn up at the largest prize wheel in the world. "I'm going to give some money to my church, buy a car and take a vacation," he said.

"I want to visit my parents in Wisconsin," said David Sween of Garden Grove. Sween won $70,000 and was this week's top Fantasy
TM 5 winner. Tim Fisher of Rancho Palos Verdes said, "I haven't had a vacation in 15 years." Fisher took a chance on the Fantasy TM 5 Dream Machine and will be able to take a vacation with his $25,000 win. Fisher also plans to put part of his prize money towards a new car.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools, and 13.5 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.9 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $10.9 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
