MILPITAS TICKET SOLE WINNER OF $425.3 MILLION POWERBALL® JACKPOT!
SACRAMENTO – The results are in and they spell even more good news for California. We now know that a ticket sold in Milpitas (Santa Clara County) is the sole winner of last night’s (revised) $425.3 million Powerball jackpot! If our lucky winner chooses the cash option, he or she would be looking at an estimated lump sum amount of $242.2 million *before* federal taxes.
This ticket was sold at Dixon Landing Chevron which is located at 1551 California Circle in Milpitas. It successfully matched the numbers 17, 49, 54, 35, 1 and the Powerball number 34. The retail location is a big winner too! Dixon Landing Chevron will receive a $1 million bonus just for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
This jackpot amount is the largest jackpot ever won in California. It is also the 6th largest jackpot in U.S. history.
Northern California has been particularly lucky lately. You’ll remember, a ticket sold in San Jose scored a $324 million Mega Millions® prize in December. That’s just 12 miles from last night’s winning location! We also had a $213 million Powerball winner last October in Fresno.
Two other tickets sold in our state matched five numbers last night, missing only the Powerball number. One ticket was sold at 7-Eleven, located at 2161 El Segundo Boulevard in El Segundo (Los Angeles County). The other ticket was sold at Stop Save Liquor #2, which is located at 1424 Coffee Road in Modesto (Stanislaus County). Each of those tickets is now worth $1,444,906 to whoever has them.
We will not know who the winner is until the ticket is claimed. We strongly encourage any Lottery winner to immediately SIGN THE BACK OF THEIR TICKET IN INK and claim the prize at ANY of the California Lottery’s nine District Office Locations. The one closest to where the Milpitas ticket was sold is our East Bay District Office, which is located at 2489 Industrial Parkway West in Hayward, (510) 670-4630.
