JACKPOT ADVISORY: $43 Million SuperLotto Plus Jackpot up for Grabs Largest Single-State Jackpot in the Nation

SACRAMENTO, October 7, 2003 -- Lottery officials announced the estimated SuperLotto Plus jackpot for Wednesday's draw at $43 million. "Winning a jackpot of this magnitude could change a person's life. It certainly would make reaching those financial goals a lot easier whether it be retirement, going on a cruise, buying that new boat, all of these thing could be possible for the next winner," said Lottery Director Tony Molica.

A single jackpot winner of $43 million who chooses the 26 graduated annual payments would receive approximately $1,075,000 the first year and $2,193,000 the 26th year (before 25% Federal withholding tax). A single jackpot winner who chooses the cash option would receive the estimated cash value which is roughly half the announced jackpot or $41.5 million (before Federal withholding tax). No state or local taxes are deducted from California Lottery prizes.

On February 16, 2002 the largest jackpot in California Lottery history reached $193 million and was won by 3 winning tickets purchased in Montebello, Orange and Half Moon Bay. On June 23, 2001, Alcario Castellano of San Jose, California made Lottery history when he became the highest individual jackpot winner of $141 million.
