Two SoCal POWERBALL® Players Win Over $1 Million Each!

SACRAMENTO – Even though no one matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s $70 million POWERBALL draw, two lucky players who purchased their tickets in Southern California did match 5 of the 6 numbers. Those tickets matched the numbers 22-16-42-23-55, missing only the Powerball number of 32. The two winners will split $2,076,480, meaning each winning ticket is worth $1,038,240.

Those tickets were purchased at La Bodega Mexicana #2 located at 5575 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach (Los Angeles County) and at S &K Liquor Mart at 15202 South Prairie Avenue in Lawndale (Los Angeles County).

No one in POWERBALL’s 44 jurisdictions won the jackpot last night, meaning the POWERBALL jackpot now grows to an estimated $85 million for Saturday night’s drawing.

The California Lottery reminds winners to sign the back of their ticket, keep tickets in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes.

POWERBALL is a multistate game, played in California and 44 other jurisdictions (42 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Players pick five numbers from 1 to 59 plus a Powerball number from 1 to 35. Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PST. Tickets sales are suspended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. the day of the draw. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers.
