Sunnyvale Trio Pools Their Money to Win POWERBALL® Prize Worth Nearly $300,000
SACRAMENTO – Priya Rangarjan dreamed about winning the POWERBALL jackpot. Not like the day dreams most Californians had earlier this week when the jackpot soared to $448 million…she literally had a dream in her sleep that she won the Lottery! And guess what? For her and two of her coworkers, that dream came true!
Rangarjan, who works in finance, was one of nine California POWERBALL players who was just one number away from winning the $448 million jackpot on Wednesday night. The group’s ticket successfully matched the numbers 58, 5, 25, 59 and 30, missing only the POWERBALL number 32. That ticket is worth $289,341. She purchased her lucky ticket at Lakewood Shell, which is located at 1101 North Lawrence Expressway in Sunnyvale (Santa Clara County). Rangarjan and her two coworkers pooled $60 together and bought 30 tickets. Now the three colleagues plan on using the money to take vacations, pay off mortgages, and one even plans to use the money to help finish a home that is under construction.
The California Lottery reminds winners to sign the back of their ticket, keep tickets in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes. The jackpot can be claimed for up to a year from the date of the POWERBALL draw.
