Long-Time Lottery Player Hits $1,000,000 Fortune

SACRAMENTO – Riley Brown was excited as ever as he walked into the Lottery’s Santa Fe Springs District Office holding a $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers® ticket worth a cool $1 million. Riley who is a long-time California Lottery player, already had his wish list of things he would like to buy when he gets his check. Brown told us he’d like to buy himself “a new car, a pair of glasses and set aside some money for retirement.” Brown made sure to point out that he first has to give his lovely wife half his winnings before he starts on his wish list.

Brown bought his lucky $10 ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 15105 Lakewood Boulevard in Paramount (Los Angeles County). Brown said he put the winning ticket in his pocket and carried it around with him the entire weekend, making sure it was safe.  Brown jokingly told us “it was a long two days!” 7-Eleven will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The $1,000,000 Fortune Scratchers ticket is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. The oversized red & gold ticket offers players 21 chances to win various cash prizes. To win, simply match any of "YOUR NUMBERS" to any of the six "WINNING NUMBERS" to win that prize. Uncover a "10X" to win 10 times or a "20X" to win 20 times that prize. Uncover a "WIN" symbol and win all 20 prizes automatically. Uncover a "100" in the FAST SPOT, win $100. Overall game odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.30. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.2 million.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
