Million Dollar Powerball® Ticket Drawn in Sacramento!

Share:

Six Figure Fantasy 5 Ticket Also Comes Up Big in a Rare Double Win Night in the Capital City

SACRAMENTO – While many of us were talking about how frosty cold it was this morning, at least two people may be numb in a different way – that is if they’re even aware yet that they’ve won! What we do know is one lucky ticket matched five of six numbers in last night’s Powerball drawing, and is now worth a very cool $1,072,680. Someone in Sacramento also purchased the only winning Fantasy 5 ticket, matching all five numbers in last night’s draw. Whoever bought it is $112,457 richer.

The winning Powerball ticket was sold at Select Wine & Spirit, which is located at 7485 Rush River Drive #730 in Sacramento. The winning numbers are 6-9-11-31-44, missing only the Powerball number 25. Had that number been drawn, the lucky winner would have scored the $81 million jackpot (which has jumped now to an even $100 million for Saturday night’s draw).

And how’s this for an added gift just in time for the holidays? – The lucky Sacramento retailer who sold that Powerball ticket is going to get a check for about $5,363! That’s because on November 21, the California Lottery Commission voted to start awarding retailers who sell five of six winning draw game tickets (of more than $1 million) – a one half percent retailer bonus. Previously, only retailers who sold the winning jackpot ticket were eligible for the standard one half percent bonuses.

As for the winning Fantasy 5 ticket we mentioned above – it was purchased at Circle CK Deli & Food Store, which is located at 5219 Elkhorn Boulevard in Sacramento. The winning numbers are 8-9-13-29-30.

Needless to say, these lucky tickets are suddenly a couple of valuable slips of paper! The California Lottery strongly urges the winners to sign the back of their tickets, obviously keep them in a safe place and contact Lottery officials, or visit their local Lottery District Office (4106 East Commerce Way, Sacramento) as soon as possible. Players have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim these prizes.

Now we just need the winners to come forward so we can write a couple of big checks! The best news of all is we still have a lot more money to give away. Lottery fever is spreading fast! Take a look at the size of these jackpots – the largest we’ve had in years:

• The Mega Millions® jackpot for tomorrow (Friday) night’s draw is $291 million – the ninth largest of all time. It’s also largest Mega Millions jackpot since March 30, 2012, when three winning tickets split a U.S. lottery-record $656 million.

• The SuperLotto Plus® jackpot for Saturday night’s draw has grown to $44 million. It’s the largest since July 23, 2011 when a single-winning ticket purchased in Anaheim won the $61 million jackpot.

Tonight in Sacramento, we’re also excited to kick off the first of 10 Lottery Live holiday events that will be held around the state. Spend $10 on our wide variety of Lottery products, and you get to spin the Holiday Wheel for a chance to win some great prizes. Here’s a hint – the odds of winning something are even money! So bundle up with that favorite holiday sweater or coat, and head out to Lichine’s Liquor & Deli (7107 South Land Park Drive, Sacramento) between 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

These holiday events are all part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public schools. This past fiscal year, the sale of Lottery products generated $1.28 billion for students – the 13th consecutive year more than a billion dollars was distributed to public schools throughout the state. Although a modest amount once divided between 1,600 public school districts, teachers and administrators count on their funds to continue critical learning programs, purchase equipment and even pay teacher salaries.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 96 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
