SUPERLotto Plus JACKPOT HITS $43 MILLION
SACRAMENTO, August 23, 2001-- Lottery officials announced the estimated SuperLotto Plus jackpot for Saturday August 25, 2001 at $43 million. "Californians may not be able to buy tickets for the multi-state Powerball jackpot but tickets for our $43 million jackpot are a definite possibility," said Lottery Director Joan Wilson. "As the jackpot grows our SuperLotto Plus sales pick-up and that enables us to provide additional revenues to public schools."
In June 2001, Alcario Castellano of Santa Clara, California made Lottery history when he became the record-breaking highest individual jackpot winner of $141 million. A single jackpot winner of $43 million would receive $1.075 for the first year graduating to $2.1 million on the 26th year. With at least 34% of all Lottery sales going to education, this jackpot will generate more than $25 million for education.
SuperLotto Plus can be played at more than 18,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
