Georgia Woman Wins Big on California Lottery

SACRAMENTO – What was a routine trip for Georgia native Sabrina Sheran, has now turned into a trip of a lifetime. Sheran, who is in California visiting her dad, is now a lot richer after purchasing a California Lottery Black Scratchers® ticket worth $250,000!

Sheran, who was still in shock today as she claimed her prize, said that she wasn’t sure what she was going to do with the money, but that she would like to take care of her family. Sheran also told us that she had won a few small prizes in Las Vegas, but nothing quite like this.

Sheran claimed her ticket at the California Lottery’s Van Nuys District Office. The winning ticket was purchased at the Simroy Chevron located at 11203 Glenoaks Blvd in Pacoima (Los Angeles County).

The California Lottery Black Scratchers ticket is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. The oversized ticket features an almost all black motif and, in total, offers 20 top prizes of $250,000. To play, match any of your numbers to any of the four winning numbers and win that prize. Uncover a 10X symbol and you’ll automatically win 10 times that prize. Uncover a win symbol and win all 18 prizes automatically! Overall game odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.76. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.2 million.

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. Since 2000, Lottery players have contributed $1 billion to public schools each year, and, since we began in 1985, Lottery players have contributed a total of more than $24 billion to education. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
