SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, July 8, 2000 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $1,252,500.

Folsom resident Denise Hamma bought a Big Spin Scratchers® ticket that won her a direct trip to the Big Spin® 2000 show. Once at the show, Hamma won $1 million! Hamma plans on purchasing a house with her prize and wants to buy her nieces a "space bug," a popular toy. Other California Gold contestants won a combined total of $22,500.

"I want to buy a new car and put the rest of my prize money away for my children's education," said Maryann Herranz of San Francisco. Herranz won $70,000 playing the Fantasy 5
TM Dream Machine. "I'm going to take my family on a trip," said David McCosker of Concord after winning $65,000 on the Dream Machine. Fantasy 5 contestant Carmelita De Jesus of Palo Alto said, "I'm a good cook." De Jesus plans to show her culinary talent when she opens up her own restaurant with the $25,000 she won.

James Dahlia of N. Hollywood won $25,000 as this week's top High Roller contestant, while Frances Holguin of Bakersfield won $5,000.

Business owner Refugio Ortiz of Whittier, got three "Spin" symbols on a "Big Spin 2000" Scratchers® ticket. That ticket got Ortiz a direct trip to the show. Once at the show, Ortiz spun the prize wheel and won $40,000. Ortiz plans to expand his business with the prize money he won. He would also like to remodel his home and put some money away for his children's education.
