SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, July 15, 2000 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $2,350,000.

California Lottery will announce the newest "Extravaganza 2000" winner on this week's show. The Extravaganza 2000 Scratchers® game gives players a way to win $2 million. The winner will receive $2,000 per week for the next 20 years, which totals over $2 million dollars.

"I'm going to buy my wife a home," said San Francisco resident Freddie Mitchell Sr. Mitchell got three "Spin" symbols on a "Big Spin 2000" Scratchers® ticket. That ticket won Mitchell a direct trip to the show and to spin the wheel. Once at the show, Mitchell spun the largest prize wheel in the world and won $100,000. Mitchell plans to share some of his prize money with his family.

California Gold contestants won a combined total of $72,500. Patricia Sanders of San Diego was the top winner with $75,000, while Eugene Garcia of Whittier won the next highest amount of $50,000. "I'm going to buy a lot of diapers," said Garcia who just had a new baby girl.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.5 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget.
