John Mockler, SacramentoSACRAMENTO – “The Big Spin®” show aired Saturday, October 16, 2004 and featured John Mockler of Sacramento who received the Lottery’s “Exceptional Educator” Award from Assemblymember Carol Liu.

Mockler is a dynamic individual who has served in many distinguished capacities to keep California’s schools moving forward.  He has spent his career focusing on adequate funding and positive policies for educational achievement.  He is best known for his role in the creation and development of Proposition 98.  This proposition guarantees that public schools receive at least 40 percent of the general funds from the State of California, making sure California’s schools are properly funded.  These funds are used to provide special academic programs, funds for books, desks and educational materials.

The California Lottery’s “Exceptional Educator” Award has been presented on “The Big Spin®” television show since April of 2001.  The Lottery enlists legislators and state officials to present these awards which recognize outstanding teachers whose extraordinary efforts help California students to succeed.
