Help Someone Stop Suffering

If someone you know is a problem gambler, use a simple and straightforward approach to show him or her your concern.

The following messages may help you find the right words to use to communicate your concern:

  • Tell the person that you care about him or her and that you feel concerned about the way you see him or her acting.
  • Tell the person exactly what he or she has done that concerns you.
  • After telling the person that you care, what you've seen and how you feel, listen to what he or she says.
  • Tell the person that you would like to see him or her seek help and talk to someone about his or her gambling problem.
