CALIFORNIA’S FIRST MEGA MILLIONS MILLIONAIRE STEPS UP!

SACRAMENTO -- California State Lottery officials are pleased to introduce California’s first MEGA Millions’ millionaire -- Roy Corsey.  Mr. Corsey’s excitement began when he selected 5 out of the 6 winning numbers from the August 9th MEGA Millions draw.  Despite being one number off from winning the jackpot, he walks away a winner with $1.4 million.

Mr. Corsey, a resident of Los Angeles, bought his ticket at Seven Kings Liquor in Los Angeles on his way to Magic Mountain.  Little did he know that the bottle of water he stopped to purchase at the local liquor store would ultimately net him mega bucks.

Besides being the largest MEGA Millions prize awarded in California, this prize is unique because it will be paid as a cash payment in full (before the 25% Federal withholding).   All other Lottery prizes of this size are paid in payments or if the player chooses the cash option, they are paid at a discounted rate.  However, in this circumstance the winner will receive $1.4 million in cash before taxes.

Mr. Corsey’s chose the “Quick Pick” feature for selecting his winning combination of numbers: 13, 35, 36, 43, 52 and MEGA 5.  What will Mr. Corsey do with his money you ask…  In keeping with his good son status - - he plans on buying his mother a house.

MORE GAMES, MORE CHOICES, MORE CHANCES TO WIN…The MEGA Millions jackpot continues to roll and currently affords players a chance at $51 million for this Friday night’s draw.  Good luck!
