Co-Workers Claim MEGA Millions® Ticket Worth Over $160,000

SACRAMENTO – A group of 26 co-workers were literally one number away from hitting last night’s $13 million MEGA Millions jackpot. The group successfully matched the numbers 9, 33, 55, 32 and 22, missing only the Mega number of 44. The Mega number on their Quick Pick® ticket was 45.

Linda Tippings and Amanda Chavez, who spoke for the group, said they weren’t upset at all about missing out on the $13 million jackpot. In fact, when they initially checked their ticket, they thought they had only matched four numbers, which would have paid them $176. So when they found out they actually matched five numbers, they were both thrilled! The co-workers will split a prize of $161,866.

The winning ticket was sold at Ranch Liquor, which is located at 12-z Village Loop Road in Pomona (Los Angeles County). No one matched all six numbers in last night’s draw, so Friday’s jackpot is an estimated $20 million.

The California Lottery reminds winners to sign the back of their ticket, keep tickets in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes.

MEGA Millions is a multistate game, played in California and 43 other jurisdictions (41 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
