Simple Question As Man Claims Powerball® Ticket Sold in La Habra Worth $442,000!

SACRAMENTO – “Holy mackerel, I got a lot of money,” is what Blaise Albamonte said he thought to himself right after discovering his ticket matched five of six winning numbers in the Powerball draw on April 30. The next words that came to mind were “Now what the hell do I do?”

Yes, winning $442,609 is a lot to think about. “When you’re not accustomed to having a lot of money, it’s not that simple,” Albamonte said. That is why he and his wife, Carole, have already made plans to meet with a financial advisor with the goal of making the most of this windfall. “I’m not about to go out and buy a new Cadillac,” Abamonte said. He’s also not interested in hearing from anyone seeking a portion.

Carole Albamonte didn’t believe her husband when he first called her over to the kitchen table where he had been checking the winning numbers in the newspaper. “Like all wives, when their husband tells them something, they want proof,” she joked. Only this was no joke, Blaise really did hold a ticket that matched the numbers 9, 2, 19, 50 and 11, missing only the Powerball number 32. You can see how he had circled the numbers one by one on the actual ticket pictured below. “When I saw that many that were circled, I could not get over it. I’m still not over it,” Carole said.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Vons grocery store located at 2101 West Imperial Highway in La Habra (Orange County). Since there was no jackpot winner that night, or this weekend, Wednesday’s Powerball draw has grown to $70 million.

While the couple tries to digest the thought of winning, Blaise says he’s long felt like a winner. “It might be the same ball park, but with you, it’s new every time,” he said, explaining that the answer is in an old phrase he’s shared with his wife.
