Southern California Man Wins First $6.5 Million “Lucky for Life” Top Prize

Share:

Prize Breaks Down to $5,000 a Week for 25 Years!

SACRAMENTO – Gary Fink is a guy who knows what he wants. So when the cashier at a 7-Eleven accidentally gave him two $5 California Lucky for Life Scratchers® tickets, Fink handed them back and said, “No, I want two $10 Lucky for Life Scratchers.” That decision paid off big time! The brand new California Lucky for Life family of Scratchers payouts range from $500, $1,000, $2,500 or in Fink’s case, $5,000 a week for 25 years! Fink also has the option of taking the payment in one lump sum, which would amount to a whopping $3,750,000!

Fink told us that he had to look at the ticket about 15 times just to make sure it actually said “LIFE” on it. His wife still didn’t believe he was a winner even after seeing the ticket with her own eyes. His wife told him, “it just seems too easy.”

Fink isn’t the only winner. The retailer will receive a bonus check of $32,500 just for selling the winning ticket. The ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 11761 Carson Street in Lakewood (Los Angeles County).

The California Lucky for Life Scratchers family is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for education. Games are available at the $1, $2, $5, and $10 price points. Each price point offers a similar play style. If you match any of your numbers to any of the winning numbers you uncover when you scratch the ticket, then you win that prize. If you uncover a money bag symbol, you automatically win the prize associated with it. And, if you uncover a LIFE symbol, you win the top prize for that game – a prize paid out weekly over the course of 25 years, or available as a lump sum amount. As you move up in price from $1 to $10, you have more chances to win and the potential prizes just keep getting higher.

Starting with the $1 game, players can win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to $500 a week for 25 years. Four lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a $375,000 lump sum payment. The $2 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to $1,000 a week for 25 years. Four lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a $750,000 lump sum payment. The $5 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to $2,500 a week for 25 years. A whopping 10 lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a $1.9 million lump sum payment. And finally, the $10 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from a free ticket all the way up to the grandest prize of all – $5,000 a week for 25 years. Ten lucky players will win the top prize, which is also available as a lump sum payment of $3,750,000 – the largest instant prize the Lottery has ever offered.

The winning doesn’t stop there – like all Lottery Scratchers games, the California Lucky for Life games come with second chances to win the top prizes, as well as a bonus draw. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning California Lucky for Life Scratchers ticket code for a chance to win. Five weekly winners will get $1,000, and one final grand-prize winner will get $10,000. For more information on the bonus draws, please click here.
