‘Kaboom!’ Orange County Mom Spells Out $750,000 Bonus Crossword Scratchers® Payday!
SACRAMENTO – Some winners are more surprised than others, but Daniela Ward just had a feeling it might be her lucky day! “I knew there was a big ticket coming. I scanned it at the store and it said, ‘file a $750,000 claim.’ And then I screamed,” Ward recalled with a healthy laugh.
Ward said she’d gone into work this past Saturday (Aug. 23) and decided she would try her luck again with a $10 Bonus Crossword game. “With what I do (for work), I’m on the phone a lot. There’s waiting, so I love these Scratchers that are time consuming because they keep me busy,” Ward explained.
However, Ward said she didn’t scratch her winner at work this time. “I stopped at (a convenience store) to ask my family if they wanted anything while I scratched, and Kaboom – 10 words! I’ve been playing for seven years. I couldn’t believe it.”
Ward had to keep busy and stay calm the rest of the weekend, because she couldn’t claim her fortune until Monday when the Lottery’s Santa Ana District Office was open. “The rest of Saturday went pretty fast and then all of Sunday, I just kept saying to myself, ‘I’ve got $750,000!’”
The 28-year-old Irvine mom said the most she’d ever won on a Scratchers game was about $500. Needless to say, she more than earned back her $10 investment over the weekend! She bought her winning ticket at Starshine Mobil, which is located at 17551 MacArthur Blvd. in Irvine.
Ward said the Crossword win is; pardon the pun, “the missing piece of the puzzle to my life.” So what does one do with $750,000 in newfound money? “I’ve always wanted a house. It was the missing piece. I’m going to handle my debt and put down a down payment, and then just enjoy my family and my new home!”
The winning certainly doesn’t stop there – like all Lottery Scratchers games, the Bonus Crossword game comes with a second chance to win the top prize. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning Bonus Crossword Scratchers ticket codes for another chance to win. The game is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public schools.
