Bigger is Better! – Lottery Rolls Out First $20 Scratchers® Ticket With $5 Million Top Prize

Share:

$5 Million Jackpot Game Offers Largest Instant Scratchers Payday Ever!

SACRAMENTO – It doesn’t get any bigger than this – literally! – and in so many ways. Just in time to kick off the fall season, the California Lottery is launching the state’s first $20 Scratchers game called $5 Million Jackpot. This striking, jumbo-sized ticket’s top prize of $5 million is worth more instant cash than any of our popular Scratchers have ever paid out! It goes on sale today at all Lottery retail locations.

Players not only have a whopping 28 chances per ticket to win – but more than a dozen instant jackpot prizes worth $5 million each are up for grabs. Unlike other big-money games of this size, the $5 million fortune will be paid in one lump sum! The attractive blue and gold ticket – which features an eye-catching holographic design – is also the first Scratchers game to offer three “Fast Spot” instant win boxes worth up to $500.

In all, the game offers a potential 11-plus million lucky winners the chance at walking away with cash and prizes worth nearly half a billion dollars. $5 Million Jackpot also offers the best overall Scratchers odds (1 in 2.89) of winning money and prizes! An additional $5 million instant prize will also be awarded via the 2nd Chance Program.

California joins the majority of lotteries already selling $20 Scratchers tickets. “We’ve absolutely noticed how these $20 Scratchers have been successful in energizing sales in other states,” said California Lottery Acting Director Paula LaBrie. “We want to give our players the same opportunity to win big, but most importantly, help continue our core mission of supplementing funding for California public education.”

The road to an instant $5 million payday is simple enough. To win, just match any of “YOUR NUMBERS” to any of the eight “WINNING NUMBERS” and win that prize. Uncover a “10X” multiplier symbol to automatically win 10 times that prize. Uncover a “20X” multiplier symbol and win 20 times that prize. Uncover a “Jackpot” symbol to win all 25 prizes automatically. Scratch off the three “Fast Spots” and uncover “50” to win $50, “100” to win $100, and “500” to win $500 instantly. The game is part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public schools.

The winning doesn’t stop there – like all Lottery Scratchers games, the $5 Million Jackpot game comes with second chances to win the top prizes. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning $5 Million Jackpot Scratchers ticket codes for another chance to win. (NOTE: Due to an upgrade in our computer system to accommodate the new and improved 2nd Chance Program, players will temporarily not be able to submit their $5 Million Jackpot ticket codes until October 14, 2013. So save your non-winning tickets and please check our 2nd Chance web page for more information.)

The mission of the California Lottery is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. More than 96 cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
