Winner Claims Big Powerball® Prize in Orange County!

Share:

SACRAMENTO –Wait no more. We now know who scored that big Powerball win on a ticket sold in Orange County. Remember, that was the one that matched 5 of the 6 winning numbers from the draw on November 15, 2017. Efrain Flores claimed his fabulous prize, which came to $945,906 (before taxes)!

Of course, we must address the obvious. Flores did just barely miss hitting the jackpot, which that night had risen to $103 million. His ticket matched the numbers 48-32-44-50, and 23, missing only the red Powerball number 25. Though we sincerely doubt he’s complaining since Flores is walking away with hundreds of thousands of dollars!

Flores opted for the Quick Pick® option when he purchased his ticket at Inces Beach Market, which is located at 18015 Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach. It doesn’t get any simpler than that. This lucky California Lottery player is hoping to keep it that way. Flores respectfully declines any potential media requests for interviews or photo ops. No additional information about him will be released.

Powerball is played in 44 states (plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PDT. The draw closes at 7 p.m., so players must buy their tickets by then. (Sales for the next draw begin at 7:05 p.m.) Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the more than 22,000 California Lottery retailers or one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s Powerball site for more information on how to play.

Powerball is a part of the Lottery’s continued effort to create more winners and more importantly, earn more money for California public schools!

The California Lottery is a $6 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State’s General Fund. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. In FY 2016-17, the Lottery created 83 new millionaires. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
